When you are planning a trip or even a weekend out we all know that it could be a nightmare to find Vegan options, specially depending on the place you are traveling to. The thing is that out of our homes, it is quite difficult to control all the ingredients and even more difficult if we are traveling to a foreign country, even finding something vegan could be very stressful. Recently my husband and I went to Norway and spent 15 days 100% Vegan, so here I give you some tips!
SHOPPING LIST
Getting everything written could be very obvious, but sometimes we are lazy and when we go to the supermarket we start throwing things inside the shopping cart and when we arrive home we realized that we haven´t bought the most important things.
If you are going to spend a lot of days abroad it is good to write a meal plan for every day, so you can predict more or less about quantities and also to be sure that you will eat all the things your body needs daily, a good amount of proteins, carbs, vitamins and fats.
You have to be conscious about your meal plan, and realice that you can´t take everything with you, so do the shopping with a list is the best option, also think that you could buy fresh veggies and other stuff where you travel to that complement things you take with you to the trip.
WHAT TO BUY
This is the most important, what to buy; you can buy lots of things but thinking the best products that can spend long time out of the fridge is the most common option.
Long trips: We should take with us, rice, couscous, pasta… all dry products that last longer out of the fridge.
Weekend trips: For the weekend is easier to plan your meals more or less the same thing that we usually do when we go to do the shopping, take into account that some vegan hamburgers, pasta o or pizza are good options for a meal and we can carry fresh products easily. Long trip or short trip, nuts are our best friends, dates, raisins and energy bars in your pockets.
ENJOY
Don´t forget that you are on holidays and food does not have to be an impediment to keep going and enjoy your free time and the places you visit, if you prepare everything and get organized everything will be fine.
